The Sunday night event’s final bout didn’t technically even begin until midnight on Monday.
Lynch ultimately won the Triple Threat match, pinning Rousey while third competitor Charlotte Flair was incapacitated. There was a bit of controversy at the end, however, as both of Rousey’s shoulders were not down during the entirety of the referees 1-2-3 count.
The “Irish Lass Kicker”-turned-“The Man” now holds both the “Raw” and “SmackDown Live” Women’s Championship belts.
The long night from New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium marked the first time that women have headlined a WrestleMania event. Even the losers in the locker room can feel pretty proud about that accomplishment.
Earlier in the long evening, Seth Rollins defeated Brock Lesnar to become the new WWE Universal Champion, Kofi Kingston bested Daniel Bryan to win the WWE Championship, Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins brought down The Revival and took over as the new “Raw” Tag Team Champions, Finn Balor’s Demon alter-ego stripped Bobby Lashley of the Intercontinental Championship, and The IIconics became the new Women’s Tag Team Champions. Those plus Lynch’s spoils marked all of the titles that changed hands on the main show.
On the pre-show, Tony Neese took out Buddy Murphy to earn the Cruiserweight Championship.
