“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” actress Rooney Mara will star opposite Ben Mendelsohn in upcoming drama “Blackbird,” Jean Doumanian Productions announced Wednesday.
The adaptation of David Harrower’s stage play of the same name focuses on two people revisiting their relationship 15 years after their passionate affair ended.

Theatrical director Benedict Andrews (“The Maids”) will make his feature film directorial debut when production commences in the United Kingdom next summer. Harrower wrote the screenplay.
Doumanian and Patrick Daly will produce.

Mendelsohn might not be a familiar name to some, but he should be a familiar face. The actor played a scheming executive in “The Dark Knight Rises,” as well as low-life criminals in “Killing Them Softly” and “The Place Beyond the Pines.”
He’ll next appear in Ridley Scott‘s “Exodus: Gods and Kings,” while Mara has a number of projects in post-production, including Todd Haynes drama “Carol” and Joe Wright‘s Neverland adventure, “Pan.”
