Rose McGowan Turns Herself in for Arrest on Drug Charge

Arrest warrant was issued after traces of narcotics were allegedly found in her belongings at an airport

Rose McGowan turned herself in on Tuesday to be arrested on booked on a felony drug charge, TheWrap has learned.

The arrest was related to a felony drug charge in Loudoun County, Virginia following a Jan. 20 incident in which traces of narcotics were allegedly detected on items left on a United flight bound for Washington Dulles International Airport.

McGowan was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a Class 5 felony, and released on $5,000 bond, according to a spokesman for the Loudoun County Sheriffs Office.

After the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department issued a statement about the warrant for McGowan’s arrest last month, saying she did not respond to attempts to contact her to appear in court, McGowan responded on Twitter.

“Are they trying to silence me? There is a warrant out for my arrest in Virginia. What a load of HORSES—,” she wrote.

McGowan became a prominent voice against sexual harassment after going public with her accusation that she was raped by Harvey Weinstein, and confirming in a New York Times report that she was one of the women with whom Weinstein settled sexual harassment lawsuits. She later said that just weeks before the New York Times report was published, Weinstein offered her $1 million to stay quiet about her accusations.
