Roseanne Barr will make her return to the stand-up stage after 16 years with “A Roseanne Comedy Special,” which will premiere exclusively on Fox Nation in the first quarter of 2023.

The Fox News Media streaming service signed the Emmy winner to also produce the special, Fox Nation president Jason Klarman announced. He said in a statement, “Roseanne is a comedy icon whose humor connects with the American audience like no other. Her ability to channel the challenges of everyday people and find the humor in it all has earned her the passionate following of millions of dedicated fans. We are thrilled to add her comedy special exclusively to the Fox Nation catalog.”

The one-hour special will appear alongside other Fox Nation originals like series “Duck Family Treasure” and the upcoming “Sharon Osbourne: To Hell & Back” and “Yellowstone: One-Fifty with Kevin Costner.” While in-depth details about the special’s topics were not specified, the show will “feature Ms. Barr’s signature comedic take on a variety of topics, with no subject off limits.”

Barr’s eponymous television role in ABC’s sitcom “Roseanne,” won her an Emmy and garnered her an additional four nominations. The series premiered in October 1988, averaging 30 million viewers a week during its near decade-long run. She later made a return to the show in 2018 for a 10th season, the premiere of which set live+3 viewing records. That show was canceled, however, after racist tweets from the star drew major backlash. A spinoff, “The Conners,” was later devised in which her character died via opioid overdose.

From 1998 to 2000 Barr also hosted her own talk show, “The Roseanne Show,” which earned her a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Talk Show Host. Her big screen credits include “She Devil,” “Freddy’s Dead,” “Blue in the Face” and “Meet Wally Sparks.” Barr has also published three books — “Roseanne: My Life as a Woman,” “My Lives” and “Roseannearchy: Dispatches from the Nut Farm” — and is currently working on a new memoir.
