Rupert Murdoch Defends ‘Exodus’ All-White Cast: ‘Since When Are Egyptians Not White?’

The upcoming film with Christian Bale as Moses and Joel Edgerton as Pharaoh has been blasted by critics for all-white cast; Murdoch fights back

TV, newspaper and media mogul. And now, Rupert Murdoch–casting director?

21st Century Fox CEO Rupert Murdoch waded up to his neck into the casting decisions of his studio’s upcoming biblical thriller “Exodus,” which has been slammed by critics for having an all-white cast.

Murdoch took to Twitter to ask what all the fuss was about.

“Exodus” opens in theaters December 12th. TheWrap’s lead movie critic Alonso Duralde thinks Christian Bale makes a “stiff white Moses” in the film, and warns moviegoers if they are “thinking that director Ridley Scott is going to give the Moses story anything we didn’t already get from Cecil B. DeMille in two versions of ‘The Ten Commandments,’ prepare to be disappointed.”
