Russell Brand Gets Thanksgiving Lesson, Katy Perry Jab From Kids (Video)

The comedian and author stops by “Live! with Kelly and Michael” for a Turkey Day lesson and hilarious reference to pop star ex-wife

Russell Brand was simply looking for an American history lesson, but he wound up with a lot more courtesy of some cute school kids. Like a shoutout to his ex-wife, singer Katy Perry.

The British comedian and author visited an elementary school on Tuesday’s “Live! with Kelly and Michael,” asking the children about the meaning and origins of Thanksgiving. Talk turned to ideal dinner guests.

“If you could invite anyone in the world to your Thanksgiving dinner, who would it be?” he asked the little ones.

Katy Perry,” a brunette tot responded. Watch the awkward video.

Brand was a good sport, though, thanking his tiny friends for the experience before turning the broadcast back to hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan.

“Thanks to these genuine Americans … and a hurtful reference to my ex-wife, I, Russell Brand, now have a better understanding of Thanksgiving,” he said, embracing the kids.

The school visit was likely one of many events he’ll be attending with a younger crowd. His first children’s book, “The Pied Piper of Hamelin: Russell Brand‘s Trickster Tales” was published by Atria Books in early November.
