Netflix’s ‘Russian Doll’ Trailer: Natasha Lyonne’s Stuck in a Deadly – But Hilarious – Loop (Video)

Beware the stairs

Is there a limit to the number of insane ways one person can die? Natasha Lyonne attempts to find out in the first trailer for Netflix’s new comedy, “Russian Doll,” from co-creators Lyonne, Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland.

Starring the “Orange Is the New Black” alum, who also serves as writer on the series, alongside “Bachelorette” writer-director Headland, the eight-episode series follows a young woman named Nadia (Lyonne) on her journey as the guest of honor at a seemingly inescapable party in New York.

And based on the two-minute preview that the streamer dropped Wednesday, when we say “inescapable,” we mean it looks like Nadia can’t get out of this shindig alive — no matter how hard she tries. She’s seemingly stuck in a loop where she goes to the bash, dies in bizarre some way, wakes up, and does it all over again — unable to figure out what is happening to her or how she might exit more safely next time. (Please don’t try the stairs one more time, we beg of you.)

Along with Lyonne, the cast includes Greta Lee, Yul Vazquez, Elizabeth Ashley and Charlie Barnett. Guest stars include Chloë Sevigny, Lyonne’s “OITNB” co-star Dascha Polanco, Brendan Sexton III, Rebecca Henderson, Jeremy Lowell Bobb, Ritesh Rajan and Jocelyn Bioh.

Poehler, Lyonne and Headland all serve as executive producers on the project, which hails from Universal Television, Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions, JAX Media and 3 Arts Entertainment. Jamie Babbit, Headland and Lyonne direct.

“Russian Doll” launches Feb. 1 on Netflix.
