Ryan Seacrest got stuck in the elevator on his way up to the infamous Times Square ball on Friday morning, although he was supposed to be in the “Good Morning America” studio.
“We’re stuck in the elevator,” Seacrest said in a video posted to Twitter. “We’re supposed to be on ‘Good Morning America’ but we can’t get there, so ring the alarm.”
Seacrest was trapped in the elevator with a group of people that were trying to contact the control room.
“If you ever been stuck in an elevator you know it’s funny and cute for the first 10 minutes, but 20 minutes in it’s not so funny anymore,” he said.
“We’ll have to broadcast from here,” he joked, with someone responding, “We’re going to have to do something.”
The elevator is supposed to be used during Saturday night’s New Year’s Eve ball drop, but as Seacrest pointed out, it might be better to use the stairs.
Eventually, the New York City Fire Department was able to pry open the doors and Seacrest made it to the set of “Good Morning America” safe and sound. The “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” host will man the microphone for ABC’s “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” Saturday.
