‘Sabrina’ Fans: Here’s Your First Look at Salem the Cat in Netflix Reboot (Photo)

Let’s be real here, the best part of the original “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” was the sarcastic, sardonic, animatronic Salem the cat, a.k.a. Salem Saberhagen — a 500-year-old witch sentenced to spend a century as a feline.

Don’t worry, because he’s not going anywhere in Netflix’s still-untitled ‘Sabrina’ reboot.

“Riverdale” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa tweeted out the first photo of the black cat on Friday. Salem looks a little more sinister than his forefather (who was voiced by Nick Bakay).

“Ladies and gentlemen, meet #Greendale’s latest resident. All hail, Salem!” Aguirre-Sacasa said in his tweet accompanying the photo.

Here’s how he compares to the original:

We still don’t know the personality of the new Salem, but if the comic upon which the series is based, “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,”  is any indication, he and the rest of the cast are sure to be a lot spookier than the original.

“Mad Men” star Kiernan Shipka will be Salem’s teenage owner Sabrina, and “The Vampire Diaries” star Jaz Sinclair will play best friend Rosalind Walker.

The first episode will be called “October Country,” and production on the show is said to be starting soon.
