Sacha Baron Cohen Joins Tarantino’s ‘Django’

High-profile cast for slave-era Western already includes Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx

Add another high-profile name to Quentin Tarantino's upcoming slave-era western "Django Unchained."

"Borat" and "Bruno" funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen will join the production, TheWrap has confirmed with his representative. The cast already includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx Christoph Waltz and Kurt Russell.

The film follows the exploits of a German dentist (Waltz) who becomes a bounty hunter and buys Django (Foxx) to help him identify one of his prey. Along the way the two develop a friendship and hatch a plot to save Django's wife from a plantation owner (played by DiCaprio).

Baron Cohen will play Scotty Harmony, a gambler who buys Django's wife.

In addition to "Django," Baron Cohen's upcoming projects include playing Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in a biopic, and the Saddam Hussein-inspired "The Dictator."

"Django Unchained" will be released domestically by the Weinstein Co. and by Sony Pictures internationally.
