Memo Highlights Rollbacks in New SAG/AFTRA Contract

With members of the two labor organizations set to vote on a new contract, a document making the rounds points out what they’ll be giving up

With membership bodies for the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation fo TV and Radio Artists set to vote on a new contract, a document making the rounds highlights what union dissonants feel are the, er, lowlights of the new jointly negotiated contract.

Titled "rollbacks," the PDF email attachment — initiated by dissonants inside SAG — leads with the well-publicized concessions made on air travel — producers are no longer required to pony up for first class seats on flights of less than 1,000 miles.

Also noted are specifics on the expanded "30-mile zone" — which is now a 45-mile radius — for which talent isn't compensated for mileage.

Meanwhile, employer pension and health contributions — which were bumped from 15 percent to 16.5 percent in new contract — do not apply to about half of all TV dramas, the document points out.

SAG and AFTRA officials have yet to comment about the document.

Ballots are due Jan. 14, with results announced that day.
