Paul Feig is bringing Salma Hayek to the small screen in a really big way.
The actress has signed on to lead and executive produce a comedy series from Feig and Imagine Television that is in the negotiations stages for a pilot commitment to series at Amazon, an individual with knowledge of the production tells TheWrap.
The currently untitled project was written by Patty Breen (HBO’s “Divorce”) — who will receive an executive producer credit — and is set in the world of international diplomacy in London, with Hayek playing an ambassador-type role.
Feig will executive produce and direct, with Breen receiving an executive producing credit as well. Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo will produce for Imagine with Hayek and her partner Jose “Pepe” Tamez producing under her Ventanarosa Productions banner.
A TV and movie star in her native Mexico before getting her big break in Hollywood, Hayek has had recurring roles on ABC’s “Ugly Betty” — which she executive produced — and NBC’s “30 Rock.” However, this would be the Oscar-nominated actress’ first series leading role in the U.S. market.
Hayek’s recent film credits include “How To Be a Latin Lover,” “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” and “Beatriz at Dinner.”
Feig, known for creating the cult hit “Freaks and Geeks,” has moved into features in recent years with “Bridesmaids” and “Ghostbusters.” He currently has the comedy pilot “Girls Code” in the works at Freeform.
Hayek is repped by CAA and Management 360.

When the Golden Globes throw a party with InStyle -- even if it's 53 days before the big show -- everyone shows up. Catch in West Hollywood was overflowing with film and TV talent on Wednesday night (Nov. 15).

The "Call Me by Your Name" guys, haunting those who have seen the movie, sandwich the woman of the night, Simone Garcia Johnson. She's The Rock's daughter and will be in the big show. Dad was on his final day of a shoot in Vancouver.
In a crowded room, Michael Polish and Kate Bosworth found some space by the bar. Behind them, those same iconic straw-top Fiji bottles that stars sip on the Globes carpet. They permeated the party.

Most of the key cast from the NBC hit were in the building. We saw Milo Ventimiglia, Susan Kelechi Watson and Chris Sullivan. The "and" takes on new meaning for newlyweds Chrishell Stause and Justin Hartley, who got married in Malibu two weeks ago.

Much like the Globes ballroom itself, there was a lot of inter-cast mingling. Exhibit A: Hartley hanging with Armie Hammer, who had just landed back in L.A. from Montreal where he has been shooting the Ruth Bader Ginsburg film "On the Basis of Sex."

I tried to spot the actresses behind one of the most cruel relationships on TV link up, but never saw them together. From the barren house of Commander Warren on "The Handmaid's Tale," there's Ever Carradine on the left and breakout Madeline Brewer on the right.

Remember when Brewer was on the first season of "Orange Is the New Black"? She's still cool with Jackie Cruz, having fun in Moet's photo booth. Between OITNB and Handmaids, nominate Brewer for the "Most Oppressed/Abused Female Institutional Characters of the Decade" Award.

The perks of being the HFPA's Ambassador? Hanging with one of the biggest stars at the bash, Salma Hayek. Simone Garcia Johnson and her mom Dany (who although being divorced from The Rock, runs his production company) spent some time with the one-time "Frida."

After hosting "SNL" last month, Kumail Nanjiani and his partner in"The Big Sick" and in life, Emily Gordon, should have plans on the night of Jan. 7.

After "The Shape of Water" had its L.A. premiere at the Academy HQ in Beverly Hills, stars Doug Jones (not the one running for Alabama Senate) and Octavia Spencer where up on Catch's rooftop. NBCU's Chip Sullivan and Spencer were also chatting in the prime corner booth.
Don't forget about the TV people. The Globes routinely pluck out freshman comedies and their actors for honors. Lea Michele and "The Mayor" could be that one this year. We'll find out on December 11, when nominations arrive.

Will "Big Little Lies" repeat its Emmy night domination? There was no Reese on Wednesday night, but TV daughter Kathryn Newton and spouse Adam Scott were one part of HBO's Sunday night punch this year.

Alumni night! Former "Miss Golden Globes" and USC alums Corinne Foxx and Greer Grammer came back to the fold. On Grammer's coronation night back in 2014, she had a night shoot and couldn't stay for the full party. Plenty of lost time to make up for.
