An untitled comedy project from “Modern Family” star Sarah Hyland and “The Big Sick” writer Emily V. Gordon has been given a put pilot commitment at ABC.

The multi-camera comedy is inspired by Hyland and Gordon’s real-life experiences, with 20th Century Fox Television attached to produce. The pair will both executive produce, with Gordon set to write and Hyland set to star in the new series after “Modern Family” comes to an end in 2020.

“This Is Us” showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger will also executive produce with Adam Londy (“The Jim Jefferies Show”) for their 20th Century Fox TV-based banner The Walk-Up Company.

Gordon and her husband, Kumail Nanjiani, with whom she co-wrote “The Big Sick,” are also working on “Little America,” an immigrant anthology series for Apple.

Hyland’s romantic comedy feature “The Wedding Year,” about an L.A. photographer who vowed never to get married, is set to release this fall.

ABC also has the “black-ish” prequel comedy series “mixed-ish,” set to premiere this fall.

Hyland is repped by WME, Richard Konigsberg Management and attorneys at Gang, Tyre, Ramer & Brown. Gordon is repped by Mosaic, ID and attorneys at Schreck Rose Dapello Adams Berlin & Dunham. Aptaker and Berger are repped by Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller & Gellman.
