Sarah Paulson has gone on the record to say she’s “in love” with 73-year-old actress Holland Taylor and that they have been a couple for a little over a year.

“If my life choices had to be predicated based on what was expected of me from a community on either side, that’s going to make me feel really straitjacketed, and I don’t want to feel that,” she told the New York Times. “What I can say absolutely is that I am in love, and that person happens to be Holland Taylor.”

Pictures that surfaced in December fueled reports that the “American Crime Story” star was dating Taylor, and the online reaction was immediate, as well as positive.

Paulson has previously dated Cherry Jones, who was 18 years her senior. Before that, she dated several men, including actor Tracy Letts, who was nine years older.

She told the Times that her “choices in romantic partners have not been conventional, and therefore the idea that it is ‘other’ makes it compelling.”

Taylor is best known for her roles on “The Practice” and “Two and a Half Men.” Paulson can currently be seen on FX playing former prosecutor Marcia Clark, and has appeared in every season of “American Horror Story,” and also had a role in gay Oscar-nominated drama “Carol.”

Paulson said she met the actress at a dinner party 10 years ago, and described her as “probably the most exquisitely beautiful woman I’d ever seen.”

“There’s a poignancy to being with someone older,” Paulson added. “I think there’s a greater appreciation of time and what you have together and what’s important, and it can make the little things seem very small. It puts a kind of sharp light mixed with a sort of diffused light on something. I can’t say it any other way than there’s a poignancy to it, and a heightened sense of time and the value of time.”
