IFC comedy is coming back with a bang.

The cable channel has renewed Scott Aukerman’s “Comedy Bang! Bang!” for a fifth season. The next run will have 20 half-hour episodes in 2016.

“Scott has created an absurd world that attracts the biggest names in pop culture,” said Jennifer Caserta, IFC’s president. “They show up, do insane things and oftentimes come back for more. We have no idea how he does it, but we’re not about to start asking questions now.”

The show’s current fourth season, airing Friday nights at 11 pm ET, has featured Ty Burrell, Mark Duplass, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Zach Galifianakis, former NFLer Eddie George, Simon Helberg, Maya Rudolph, Dax Shepard, Schoolboy Q, Jack Antonoff, Twin Shadow and Tears for Fears. Others that have appeared on the show throughout its four-season run include Jon Hamm, Fred Armisen, Amy Poehler, Jack Black, Jessica Alba, Anna Kendrick, Future Islands and ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic.

The series is produced for IFC by Abso Lutely Productions; Scott Aukerman and Dave Kneebone serve as executive producers.

The complete first two seasons — as well as the first half of Season 3 — are currently available on Netflix.
