Scripps, Cablevision Deal Returns Food Network, HGTV to Subscribers

An impasse over fees kept the lifestyle channels dark for three weeks in the New York area

Food Network and HGTV have returned to millions of viewers after Cablevision and Scripps Networks Interactive resolved their dispute over fees.

The companies said they had reached an agreement Thursday, the same day the lifestyle channels came back on to more than 3 million subscribers in the New York tri-state area.

The impasse began earlier this month, after an earlier fee agreement expired at midnight Dec. 31. Scripps was seeking a 200 percent increase; Cablevision accused it of holding viewers hostage.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
