Sean Penn, Robin Wright Divorce Finalized

Filed in 2009, the divorce becomes final with a judge’s signature; joint custody of teen son awarded

Sean Penn and Robin Wright, who filed for divorce in 2009 in their 14-year on-again, off-again relationship, are officially splitsville after a Marin County judge signed off on their court filing.

Penn and Wright (pictured left in early 2009) had filed once for divorce, then reconciled. But Wright said after her latest filing that she had no intention of getting back together with the Oscar-winning actor.

The couple were married in April of 1996. They entered into a post-nuptial agreement three months later, and noted in their most recent filing that the agreement was valid and binding.

The filing affords joint custody of the couple's 16-year-old son, Hopper, emphasizing his preferences for how he spends time with each parent. More details of the agreement were not filed with the court based on "privacy concerns."

However, the rest of the particulars deferred to the postnuptial agreement and subsequent settlement.

The filing was actually signed by a judge on July 22, but first came to light on Wednesday afternoon.
