CBS News anchor Charlie Rose will sit down with Sean Penn for an interview to discuss the actor’s Rolling Stone article on Mexican drug lord Joaquín Guzmán Loera — a.k.a. “El Chapo.”

“I have a thousand questions for Sean,” the “CBS This Morning” anchor said Tuesday at a TCA panel, where he revealed that he will sit down with Penn on an upcoming date to be determined.

Rose revealed that he met with Penn Monday night in Los Angeles to lay the groundwork for the upcoming interview.

In a piece published Saturday, Penn revealed that he traveled to Mexico to interview El Chapo for Rolling Stone. Mexican officials tracked Penn’s movements in secret, and have claimed that Penn, without knowing it, helped lead them to El Chapo, who was captured Friday.

“I don’t think he’ll be doing any other interviews until we sit down,” Rose said. He added, “He and I will have a chance to explore a whole range of things with this particular interview and how it came about.”

But Rose declined to address the journalistic integrity of Penn’s adventure, saying he wanted to save those questions for the interview.

“Clearly, I would have liked to have had an opportunity to interview a whole range of people and El Chapo would have been one of them,” he added. “Sean Penn got that interview.”
