The only thing stopping J. Lo is J. Lo, according to Milo Ventimiglia and the first official trailer for the Jennifer Lopez’s new flick “Second Act.”
In the video, we see Lopez take on the role of Maya, a 40-year-old woman who is working in a dead-end job and “wishes we lived in a world where street smarts equal book smarts.” Unfortunately, that isn’t the case, and she gets passed over for a promotion at work. That’s when her romantic partner (played by Ventimiglia) tries to reassure her she’s enough on her own — and then her friend Joan (Leah Remini) uses a wildly-impressive fake Facebook profile to “Cinderella her ass” into a fancy job at a big company with Vanessa Hudgens.
Yes, Maya is getting a “second act” in her life, thanks to a whole lot of lies crafted with the help of her gal pal, including a degree from Wharton and the fact she is fluent in Mandarin. Of course, she totally isn’t, but because it’s JLo who is mistakenly saying “His anal glands need milking,” to a Chinese businessman, it is taken as a joke and works out just fine to help close a deal. Phew.
Here is the official synopsis for the STX Entertainment film: “Second Act” is a comedy in the vein of “Working Girl” and “Maid In Manhattan. “Jennifer Lopez stars as Maya, a 40-year-old woman struggling with frustrations from unfulfilled dreams. Until, that is, she gets the chance to prove to Madison Avenue that street smarts are as valuable as book smarts, and that it is never too late for a Second Act.
