‘Sense8’: Watch the Trailer for the Series Finale (Video)

The two-hour special drops on Netflix June 8

Nearly a year after Netflix announced a two-hour series finale to Netflix’s “Sense8,” fans are finally getting a glimpse of what’s to come as a new trailer has been released ahead of the special.

The sci-fi drama, which has developed a rabid fan base during its time on the air, was canceled by Netflix after two seasons to an uproar similar to the cancelations of “Timeless” on NBC and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” on Fox. Like those shows, “Sense8” was granted a little bit of extra life after the fan outcry.

“After seeing that the cancellation was a total cluster, we decided to give Sense8 fans the ending they totally deserve,” a Netflix spokesperson told TheWrap last year when it was announced that a two-hour series finale would hit the streaming service to give fans “closure.”

“The outpouring of love and grief that came in the wake of the news that ‘Sense8’ would not be continuing was so intense that I often found myself unable to open my own email,” co-creator Lana Wachowski wrote on Twitter when Netflix relented to the pressure. “Improbably, unforeseeably [sic], your love has brought ‘Sense8’ back to life.”

Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos said that although the sci-fi show was “incredibly ambitious” and “broke all kinds of new ground,” the audience just wasn’t large enough “to support the economics of something that big, even in our platform”

“Lost” alum Naveen Andrews said at TCA in January that “there is a satisfying ending” to the special.
