Seth Meyers ‘Blames’ Obama for Trump’s Presidential Run (Video)

“I feel like he took it too far,” “Saturday Night Live” alum jokes of Obama’s Trump roast at 2011 White House Correspondents’ Association dinner

Late Night with Seth Meyers, Seth Meyers

Not crazy about the job President Donald Trump is doing? Blame his predecessor, Barack Obama. At least that’s what Seth Meyers had to say in an interview with “Sunday Today,” which airs Aug. 13.

In what we’re pretty sure was a joke, Meyers told Willie Geist that he knew way back in 2011 that Obama would force Trump to make a bid for the highest office in the land.

Reflecting on the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, which Meyers performed at, the “Saturday Night Live” alum said that he knew Obama’s merciless roasting of Trump over Trump’s suggestion that Obama might not have been born in America would spell trouble one day.

“I think it was probably because of President Obama. I think I’d blame him,” Meyers told Geist. “I feel like he took it too far. The whole time Obama was going, I was like, ‘This isn’t fair. You’re going to make this guy run for president and this will be 100 percent on you.’”

Watch a preview of Meyers’ interview here — and, if you could use a laugh, Obama’s 2011 roast of Trump below.
