On Monday night’s episode of “Late Night,” Seth Meyers called out President Donald Trump for getting “trolled” by former President Barack Obama.
In his “Closer Look” segment, Meyers laid out the latest on the GOP-backed health care bill, which included Trump admitting that he did call it “mean,” after hearing Obama call it that.
“Obama trolled you! You’re so easy,” he exclaimed.
The bill draft, which has been worked on behind closed doors, was finally released. A report by the Congressional Budget Office also came out, saying that over 22 million Americans would be uninsured over 10 years if the bill passed. Meyers called it “comically villainous.”
“The only way this bill could be even more cartoonishly evil is if it mandated tying damsels in distress to railroad tracks,” he said.
Obama released a statement on the plan last week.
“Simply put, if there’s a chance you might get sick, get old, or start a family — this bill will do you harm. And small tweaks over the course of the next couple weeks, under the guise of making these bills easier to stomach, cannot change the fundamental meanness at the core of this legislation,” he wrote.
To which Trump, in an interview with Fox News, appeared to take credit for the language, specifically the term “mean.”
This is after the White House denied that Trump, behind closed doors, had called the healthcare bill “mean.”
“You dummy! You’re not supposed to admit to that,” Meyers said. “If Obama came out tomorrow and said, ‘You know, we should kill poor people and used their blood to lubricate our golf carts,’ you’d be screaming, ‘My idea! I thought of that first! He totally stole that from me! That was my idea,’” he added.
In the first half of the segment, Meyers attempted to break down the Trump and Comey saga, specifically in regards to whether Trump actually had tapes of their conversations.
He referenced a conversation Trump had with Fox News that he couldn’t decipher.
“You sound like somebody dumped a box of magnetic poetry into a blender.”
