Seth Meyers Mocks Trump’s Knowledge of Independence Day (Video)

“Late Night” host recreates details about the Revolutionary War from president’s point of view

Seth Meyers mocked President Trump’s knowledge of American history on Tuesday’s “Late Night” in an animated video that recreated the American Revolution from the president’s point of view.

Narrated by Meyers in a Trump-esque voice, the two-minute clip traced how America won its independence from Great Britain in honor of the Fourth of July, but with some major changes. “Patrick Henry famously tweeted, ‘Give me liberty, or give me death.’ That was a long time ago. Way before they gave you 280 characters. Had he had more characters, he probably would have added something like, ‘Give me a hamburger,’” Meyers said as the president.

In another bit, Meyers said, “I don’t know much about King George, but I do like the way ‘King’ sounds. I’m going to see if they can change my title. King Donald has a very nice ring to it.”

Since Trump became president, Meyers has been one of his most outspoken critics on late night.

“We do talk about him, obviously, most shows,” Meyers said of how much his NBC series, “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” covers Trump. “We probably talk about him more than everybody else combined. But at least, in our defense, he is the leader of the free world. So it’s not like we have seven Kim Kardashian jokes every night.”
