Seth Meyers Shreds Media for Fawning Over Trump’s New Tone: ‘Do You Have Amnesia?’ (Video)

“Late Night” host reminds everyone that we’ve been here before — so don’t put too much stock in one sober congressional address

Seth Meyers took the media to task Wednesday night over its praise of Donald Trump’s newfound presidential tone in the prior evening’s congressional address.

“Guys, seriously, do you have amnesia?” Meyers asked. “We have been here many times before, for like a year-and-a-half now.”

The “Late Night” host then rolled similar reactions from members of the press immediately following previous sober Trump speeches. In other words, this isn’t the first time the billionaire businessman acted a little more like a polished politician.

“And maybe Lucy really will let me kick the football this time,” Meyers said, dropping in a swift Charlie Brown and “Peanuts” reference to perfectly sum up the newfound optimism.

“Look, Trump did manage to sustain a more moderate tone last night,” he concluded. “But he also offered the same empty solutions to non-existent problems — let’s not get fooled again.”
