Seth Meyers and Wife Welcomed 2nd Child the Most Insane Way – in Apartment Lobby (Video)

Axel couldn’t wait to meet his parents and older brother

Seth Meyers’ wife gave birth to a baby boy on Sunday, but the little one made a dramatic entrance.

The “Late Night” host said the couple had to welcome their second child in the lobby of their apartment building. This is two years after Meyers’ wife almost gave birth to the couple’s first son, Ashe Olsen, in an Uber.

Meyers explained that his wife said she’d been “feeling something” while out at brunch earlier that day, but had not idea how quickly the baby wanted to make its debut.

When his wife, Alexi Ashe, realized she was about to have a baby, Meyers decided to call another Uber, but Ashe soon realized she wouldn’t be able to make it to the car.

“My wife just says, ‘I can’t get in that car. I’m going to have the baby right now. The baby is coming,’” he said. He also thought she was overreacting and tried to calm her down, while the couple’s doula was telling her the same thing.

“My wife was saying, ‘The baby is coming. The baby is out,’” Meyers said, adding that the doula then checked and confirmed that the baby was indeed coming. “I looked at my wife. The only way to describe it, like someone hiding a baby in a pair of sweatpants. It was like somebody was trying to sneak the baby on a plane.”

While she laid down on the floor of the lobby, Meyers called 911.

“I called 911 and over the course of a minute conversation, I basically said, ‘We’re about to have a baby…we’re having a baby… we had a baby,’” Meyers recalled.

The New York Police and Fire Departments arrived shortly after the baby did, helping to cut the umbilical cord while neighbors put towels in the dryer to help keep the baby warm.

Meyers told his audience that they picked the name “Axel” for the second child after he held up a picture of firefighters helping Meyers’ wife while she was laying on the lobby floor.
