“Shades of Blue” viewers saw a side of Ray Liotta they never imagined from the “Goodfellas” star on Thursday’s shocking episode.
Liotta’s character, corrupt New York City police Lt. Matt Wozniak, locked lips with internal affairs chief Donnie Pomp (Michael Esper) in Episode 3 of the NBC drama. Later, Donnie is seen showering, post-sex, as Liotta places a call to Det. Harlee Santos (Jennifer Lopez).
Needless to say, the gay kiss sent social media into a frenzy and became a top trend on Twitter before the episode had even aired on the West Coast.
“I’m still trying to pick my jaw up off the floor,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Now THAT was unexpected. Woz is beyond an interesting character,” another said. “This is getting too intense I can’t watch!!!” one viewer exclaimed.
Executive producer Ryan Seacrest seemed to be just as engaged as the fans, live-tweeting about the unexpected plot twist.
The kiss wasn’t the only shocker from the latest episode — but you’ll have to watch to find out what the others were.
“Shades of Blue” airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on NBC.
