Shailene Woodley Loses Her Mother in ‘White Bird in a Blizzard’ Trailer (Video)

The drama about a teenager whose mother goes missing will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January

Shailene Woodley plays a teenager embarking on a rough road when her mom abruptly disappears in the first trailer for “White Bird in a Blizzard.”

Eva Green plays Woodley’s withdrawn mother, while Thomas Jane, Angela Bassett, Christopher Meloni, Gabourey Sidibe and Shiloh Fernandez co-star in writer-director Gregg Araki’s adaptation of Laura Kasischke’s novel of the same name.

While Woodley’s character is at first unaffected by her mother’s absence, strange dreams of her mother crying out for help eventually make her realize something violent and evil has occurred.

“White Bird in a Blizzard” will be Woodley’s next chance to stun the Sundance Film Festival — where she won the U. S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting with Miles Teller for their performance in “The Spectacular Now” — when its premieres there on Jan. 20.
