Shonda Rhimes is stepping out on ABC to get a little Fox-y.
The "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice" boss has sold a new drama, "Wildwood," to Fox, with a put-pilot commitment. The series will be set on the Jersey Shore circa the 1980's and centers around a teenager who lies about her age in order to land a job in a popular bar.
"Over the course of a summer fueled by romance, intrigue, and '80s music, she must balance her obligations to her chaotic Irish-Italian family with the new secret life she leads," the show's synopsis states.
Rhimes will executive-produce with Betsy Beers, her partner in her ShondaLand production company. Diane Ruggiero, former executive producer of "Veronica Mars," is writing the script as well as executive producing.
"Grey's Anatomy" creator Rhimes also recently sold the drama "Gilded Lillys," set in 1895 and about a family that owns the first luxury hotel in New York, to ABC.
