Sigourney Weaver has signed on to play a significant but unspecified role in Marvel’s “The Defenders.”

“Marvel is honored to have an actress of her caliber and status join what is already our biggest show ever! She is by definition a class act,” said Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television.

Sigourney Weaver, what more is there to say,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President of original content at Netflix. “She’s a formidable actress and we are thrilled to have her join our remarkable cast.”

Netflix and Marvel’s New York Comic Con panel featured the cast of “Iron Fist” making their first-ever con appearance. Those attending included Finn Jones (Danny Rand), Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing), Jessica Stroup (Joy Meachum), Tom Pelphrey (Ward Meachum), David Wenham (Harold Meachum), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple) and showrunner and Executive Producer, Scott Buck.

Loeb moderated the panel, which debuted the new “Iron Fist” teaser trailer.

The panel’s biggest surprise of the night was when the cast of “The Defenders” united on stage for the first time.

Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil) from Marvel’s “Daredevil,” Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) from Marvel’s “Jessica Jones,” and Mike Colter (Luke Cage) from Marvel’s “Luke Cage” joined Finn Jones (Danny Rand) from Marvel’s “Iron Fist.”
