Simon Cowell Should Be Shot? ‘X Factor’ Boss Begs to Differ in Twitter Spat With Depeche Mode Member

Simon Cowell calls Martin Gore a "weirdo," just because he suggested Cowell should take a bullet for his impact on the music industry

It probably wouldn't hurt Simon Cowell to have his own personal Jesus, because it appears that Depeche Mode founder Martin Gore is gunning for him.

Or maybe "X Factor" honcho Cowell's razor-sharp Twit-wit is enough to protect him.

Cowell lashed out at Gore via his Twitter account Sunday, calling the singer a "weirdo" after the '80s music icon said that Cowell should be shot for his effect on modern music.

In an interview with Music Week magazine, Gore lambasted Cowell's influence on the music industry, going so far as to say he should take a bullet for his alleged sins.

"I’m not advocating violence, but I think somebody should shoot Simon Cowell!" Gore said. "His influence in the music industry over the last God knows how many years it’s been now… it’s just like, so many people think that that's what music is. What happened to bands getting together? They are very few and far between now and the ones that do probably can’t afford to get into a studio and make a record."

Not surprisingly, Gore's comments didn't sit well with Cowell, who fired back at the musician and accused him of encouraging gun violence in the culture.

"I read Martin gore wants to shoot me," Cowell wrote. "He was in depeche mode. Do you realize how weird and stupid that makes you. Go and watch the news. Why I am angry about weirdo gore is a ton of people have got shot this year and people like weirdo gore encourage this."

Cowell might dislike gun violence, but make no mistake; he has no problem shooting off his mouth when he feels the need.
