Slate’s Former Media Critic Jack Shafer to Live Chat About Layoffs

The Poynter institute is holding a live chat at 12:30 ET for Shafer to answer people’s questions

Jack Shafer, who was laid off last week after more than a decade as Slate's media critic, will partake in a live chat on the Poynter Institute's website today.

The former editor of the Washington City Paper and SF Weekly will discuss his recent news, general thoughts on layoffs and the media world at large.

His first interview upon hearing the news was with AdWeek, in which he said he had yet to figure out what his next step would be. Though he has said he will continue to write for Slate, one has to imagine there is more for him to do.

It has still been less than a week since the surprising news of the four Slate layoffs, but Shafer had a lot of time to think about his future over the long hurricane-dominated weekend.

Those interested in hearing Shafer's take can tune in at 12:30 ET, or go on Twitter to submit questions.
