Sony Acquires ‘Predestination,” Spierig Bros. Tale Starring Ethan Hawke

The sci-fi thriller is based on Robert A Heinlein’s short story “All You Zombies”

Sony has acquired domestic rights and "a large international footprint" to the Spierig Bros.’ “Predestination,” which stars Ethan Hawke.

The film, written and directed by Michael and Peter Spierig, follows a covert government time traveling agency used to prevent future violent crimes. Hawke will play an agent who seeks out his younger self to track down the one criminal that has eluded him.

It is based on Robert A Heinlein’s short story “All You Zombies.”

“No, it's not a Zombie flick but it’s one of our favorite short stories and is unlike anything you’ve ever read before,” Spierig Brothers said in a statement. “The short is on many sci-fi lists as one of the greatest short stories of all time, and the mother of all time paradox tales.”

The film is slated to shoot in Australia at the start of 2013, produced by the Spierig Brothers with Brisbane-based Patrick Mc Donald of Wolfhound Pictures and Tim McGahan of Blacklab Entertainment.
