Sony Pictures Classics Gets ‘Get Low’ With Duvall

The offbeat comedy about a hermit who plans his own funeral is the feature film debut of Oscar winner Aaron Schneider.

Sony Pictures Classics has acquired North American rights to Oscar-winning short-filmmaker Aaron Schneider’s debut feature, "Get Low," starring Robert Duvall.

The film, an offbeat comedy about a Southern hermit who plans a bash for his own funeral, stars Duvall, Bill Murray, Sissy Spacek and Lucas Black.

"Get Low" premiered at this month’s Toronto International Film Festival as a Gala Presentation. Variety said the "tale of forgiveness and redemption manages the difficult feat of being at once understated and vigorous in its confident storytelling."

SPC acquired the film from CAA.

Schneider won his Academy Award for the 2003 live-action short "Two Soldiers," inspired by the Southern author William Faulkner.
