Sony Production Executive Lauren Abrahams to Depart Studio After 15 Years

Abrahams has overseen films such as “Peter Rabbit” and the upcoming “Zombieland 2”

Lauren Abrahams, a production executive with Sony Pictures who has overseen franchises including “Peter Rabbit” and the upcoming “Zombieland” sequel, is leaving the studio after 15 years, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap.

Abrahams is taking a break for now and may continue to work in a producer capacity for Columbia Pictures, the individual said. She was a senior vice president of production with Columbia.

Sony had no comment.

As a senior vice president, Abrahams has been responsible for launching, packaging, and overseeing franchise properties including “Peter Rabbit” and its upcoming sequel, and “Zombieland 2: Double Tap,” starring Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Jesse Eisenberg.

Abrahams has also served as an executive overseeing over 40 films and development projects, including “Escape Room,” “A Dog’s Way Home” and several other upcoming projects, including the horror movie adaptation from Blumhouse Productions of the ’70s TV show “Fantasy Island.”

Abrahams began her career as a development assistant with Michael De Luca Productions on the studio’s lot. She then moved up in ranks at Sony from a creative executive and director of production and development before being promoted to VP of Production in 2012. She’s been a senior VP since 2016.
