Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey Embraces Her Power in ‘Dark Phoenix’ Trailer: ‘Bad Things Happen But It Feels Good’ (Video)

X-Men film arrives in theaters June 7

Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey embraces her decidedly fearsome powers in the final trailer for “Dark Phoenix,” the upcoming X-Men movie franchise spinoff.

“When I lose control, bad things happen… but it feels good,” Turner’s Jean Grey says in the new footage released on Wednesday.

“She’ll kill us all,” James McAvoy’s Professor X adds.

“Dark Phoenix” is arriving in theaters on time on June 7 after the sale of Fox to Disney, which will eventually reunite the X-Men with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But for now, we get one final look at writer-director Simon Kinberg’s X-Men franchise.

The film is based on a famous “X-Men” storyline of the same name by Chris Claremont and John Byrne in which Jean Grey merges with a cosmic entity that embodies the universal energy of creation and destruction and gives her immense, enhanced psychic abilities.

It even results in the tragic death of Jean, but hardcore fans know that the real Jean Grey is still alive and innocent of Dark Phoenix’s crimes.

Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters and Jessica Chastain all star in “Dark Phoenix.”

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

This is the story of one of the X-Men’s most beloved characters, Jean Grey, as she evolves into the iconic DARK PHOENIX. During a life-threatening rescue mission in space, Jean is hit by a cosmic force that transforms her into one of the most powerful mutants of all.  Wrestling with this increasingly unstable power as well as her own personal demons, Jean spirals out of control, tearing the X-Men family apart and threatening to destroy the very fabric of our planet.  The film is the most intense and emotional X-Men movie ever made. It is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies, as the family of mutants that we’ve come to know and love must face their most devastating enemy yet — one of their own.

“Dark Phoenix” hits theaters June 7 in association with Marvel Entertainment. Watch the new trailer above.
