"Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" has another injured castmember.
Dancer Daniel Curry suffered a foot injury, a spokesman for the show said. Thursday's performance was immediately halted for the injury, and Curry was hospitalized.
"Following last night’s accident at 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,' Daniel Curry remains in the hospital in stable condition having sustained an injury to his foot," show spokesman Rick Miramontez said. "Tonight’s performance will go on as scheduled. The technical elements of the show are all in good working order, and we can confirm that equipment malfunction was not a factor in the incident. Our thoughts are with Daniel and his family.”
Initially, the show told the Associated Press that Curry had suffered a serious leg injury.
The show, which opened in 2011, was plagued by performer injuries in its early days. Chris Tierney, who suffered a skull fracture, broken ribs and three cracked vertebrae. T.V. Carpio took over the lead of Arachne after Natalie Mendoza suffered a concussion when she was hit by a rope backstage in November 2010.
The injuries made the musical the butt of many jokes. At the 2011 Tony Awards, host Neil Patrick Harris' digs included, "Pretty soon they'll be turning the name to 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Lawsuits" and "'Spider-Man': The Only Show That Warns You About Strobelights and Falling Actors."
