The SAG-AFTRA Foundation announced on Tuesday that “BlacKkKlansman” director Spike Lee and DreamWorks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg will be honored at the organization’s 3rd annual Patron of the Artists Awards, which will be held Nov. 8 in Beverly Hills.
Previous recipients of the award include Kathryn Bigelow, Rob Marshall, Judd Apatow, Lee Daniels, Megan Ellison, and Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos.
“Jeffrey Katzenberg and Spike Lee are two leaders within our industry who have created opportunities, opened doors, nurtured careers and provided jobs to countless artists,” said SAG-AFTRA Foundation president JoBeth Williams. They understand the value of artists – and the arts – to transport us to worlds that we have never seen before and tell stories that have never been told before.”
The foundation will also present Harrison Ford and Lady Gaga with the Artists Inspiration Awards at the benefit gala in honor of their philanthropic work. Proceeds from the gala, which will take place at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, will support the organization’s assistance and performers programs for SAG-AFTRA artists, as well as its children’s literacy program Storyline Online.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards are honoring the best achievements in film and television acting in 2017, and the stars are dolled up as they arrive at the show. This year's show features Kristen Bell as the SAG Awards' first-ever host, and all the presenters will be women in response to the #TIMESUP and #MeToo movements, rather than the usual pairs of women and men presenting.
