Spike Lee isn’t mincing words on Donald Trump, comparing the GOP frontrunner to Hitler.
In an interview with The Daily Beast, the veteran director took on Trump for claiming he would close down mosques if he became president.
“But you know what Trump’s saying: ‘They’re thinking about it’ [Laughs]. And he wants to close down mosques now. That’s like the Nazis,” he began.
“That’s like Hitler, Mussolini, the Axis Powers. You can’t do that!”
Lee added that if Trump wants to group Muslims with the ISIS terrorists who carried out recent attacks in Paris, then he has to label Timothy McVeigh a terrorist, which Lee thinks Trump wouldn’t do.
“That’s terrorism,” Lee concluded. “So if we want to talk about terrorist, you can’t have this myopic view that all terrorists are Muslims.”
Lee’s new film “Chi-Raq,” which depicts gang violence in Chicago, debuts in limited release on Dec. 4.
