Spike Lee tailored a message he has used in his films for a new campaign ad for Bernie Sanders just ahead of the New York primary.
Lee himself appears in the Brooklyn-set video, in which the “Do the Right Thing” director walks onscreen and says, “Wake up!”
The video then intercuts between a Sanders speech at a rally to black and latino activists discussing the importance of electing Sanders as the next President of the United States.
Also joining in the call to elect Sanders are celebrities like Rosario Dawson, Susan Sarandon, Alan Cumming, and noted activist Dr. Cornel West. “We need you, New Yorkers,” Dawson says. “Don’t just be liking this online. You gotta get in line. It’s time to vote.”
