James Corden, Reggie Watts and Jenny Slate Made a ’90s Rap Video for ‘Venom’

“Late Late Show” host makes a better Eddie Brock than Venom

James Corden has that ’90s rap and dancing thing down, but the “Late Late Show” host is pretty lacking when it comes to super-strength. On Thursday, Corden, his bandleader Reggie Watts, and actress Jenny Slate made a music video in honor Marvel’s “Venom.”

In the video, which will take viewers and hip-hop fans back a good 25 years, Corden is tasked with taking on the dual role of Eddie Brock and Venom. He’s fine as Brock, but a bit lost as Venom — especially when he’s tasked with performing a backflip.

Oh yeah, and he doesn’t look quite as good as Tom Hardy (CGI) does in that symbiote suit.

For her part, Slate turns the whole thing up a few degrees, reminiscent of TLC’s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez. She’s also the reason that Corden ends up on crutches.

“Venom” is out in theaters now.
