After the trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” aired during Monday Night Football, “Star Wars” fans became enthralled with this new sport they had never experienced before.
Conan O’Brien witnessed fans dressed up as the intergalactic characters playing a game of football in the park, but they just couldn’t seem to get it right.
At first, the teams played with a basketball but eventually switched over to an actual football. However, they left the ball in its original packaging. There was lots of action on the field with lightsabers making an appearance, and Princess Leia kicked an extra point after a touchdown.
C-3PO also made an appearance, but he was more interested in watching “The Force Awakens” trailer than actually participating in the game.
Tickets for the seventh installment in the franchise went on sale on Monday, and the massive influx of people wanting to buy tickets caused many ticketing websites to crash. The movie broke a pre-sale record for IMAX, Fandango and MovieTickets.com.
