Stephen Colbert tried to multi-task on last night's "Colbert Report," by making his interview with "Saturday Night Live" star and head writer Seth Meyers double as a sort of audition for his hopes of hosting the sketch comedy series.
"I've never met the man," Colbert said of "SNL" producer Lorne Michaels. "Our worlds don't cross at all. Probably why I haven't been asked to host."

"Do you think you’d make a good host? Do you do characters?" Meyers asked.
And that sparked a strange impersonation from Colbert, one that was supposed to be Robert De Niro, but which really sounded like an Edward G. Robinson mobster, or, as Meyers put it, what it might sound like if "De Niro had a kid with The Penguin."
