Stephen Colbert Reminds America Through Song That ‘We’re Stuck in This Together’ (Video)

We may all be drowning, but we’re drowning together

Before Stephen Colbert learned the results of the midterm elections live on CBS, the “Late Show” host recorded a song and music video for Tuesday’s cold open.

“We’re Stuck in This Together” was a lovely reminder to Americans on both sides of the proverbial aisle that we’re all still one country with one government — so if this ship goes down, we’re all drowning together.

OK, so maybe it wasn’t that lovely.

“Whichever side won today, the good news is Americans are all in this together,” Colbert said in his spoken setup. “The bad news is the same as the good news.”

Here’s a sampling of the sung chorus: “We may collapse from all the pressure/But at least if we do/we’ll all crumble together.”

We guess that’s reassuring? Catch the rest via the video above.
