Stephen Colbert May Have to Save Winter Olympics Again … This Time From the Gays (Video)

His suggestion: "Bring the Olympics back to its Greek roots, where nothing gay ever happened"

Stephen Colbert is not just a fan — he is an occasional savior of the Winter Olympics, in his own words. After all, Colbert Nation funded the 2010 gold medal-winning speed-skating team.

The "Colbert Report" host may have to step in once more, as Russian anti-gay laws could create problems for homosexual athletes in the upcoming games, which are six months away.

Colbert joked Wednesday night that the International Olympic Committee is just asking gay athletes to "Knock it off for a couple of weeks — just like in the '36 Olympic Games, [when] Hitler asked Jesse Owens to ease off on the Black."

Colbert's suggestion: "Bring the Olympics back to its Greek roots, where nothing gay ever happened."
