The Other ‘Ru Paul’: Stephen Colbert Mocks Rupert Murdoch-Rand Paul’s Kentucky Derby Date (Video)

The Comedy Central host brands the duo during Tuesday’s show

Newly single (again) media mogul Rupert Murdoch is quite the eligible bachelor. After all, as Stephen Colbert put it on Tuesday, “Ladies, he’s breathing!”

But the News Corp. chairman and chief executive officer may be off the market soon. On Saturday, he and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul shared a special Derby date, leading the “Colbert Report” host to give the “hot new celebrity power couple” a totally unique nickname: “Ru Paul.”

The speculation from the very public appearance is that Murdoch may endorse Paul in 2016, should the latter run for president.

But don’t go buying the duo monogrammed hand towels just yet. Murdoch’s tip-of-the-cap is being sought by nearly a dozen Republican presidential hopefuls, leading Colbert to quip: “It’s like a GOP version of ‘The Bachelor,’ especially since they also want nothing to do with somebody named Juan Pablo.”
