Stephen Colbert Tries out Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s ‘Super Hard’ Workout — With RBG Herself (Video)

“Please, just hang in there for three to seven more years,” Colbert pleads with justice on “The Late Show”

In a segment that fans of his earlier “The Colbert Report” almost certainly enjoyed, Stephen Colbert got physical, physical with judicial icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Wednesday night’s episode of “The Late Show.”

“She has no interest in retiring. Which is good. Please, just hang in there for three to seven more years,” Colbert said about Ginsburg, who at 85 is the current oldest-serving Justice of the United States Supreme Court. (You can watch the clip above.)

“But,” Colbert continued, “that will not be a problem because she stays in shape. Because her workout is super hard. Which is surprising, because if I had a lifetime appointment to a job that let me wear a robe, I would definitely let myself go. It’s just a black muumuu. It would be nothing but fondue 24/7.”

Maybe that’s why Colbert said he “jumped at the chance” when the Notorious RBG invited him to head to Washington, D.C. to join her for a workout.

So how’d it go? Liberals nervous about the makeup of the Supreme Court might have instinctively watched the segment through their fingers — the possibility she’ll be replaced by Donald Trump has no doubt kept many people awake at night. But luckily, RBG looks pretty spry. Her workout is surprisingly intense for an 85-year-old.

Colbert wasn’t quite as athletic-looking. Though it’s probably not his fault — usually it’s not recommended to work out while wearing a shirt and tie. As for RBG, that “Super Diva” sweater is probably about to become a must-have fashion item.
