Former History Channel general manager Dirk Hoogstra has been named Chief Creative Officer at Stephen David Entertainment, the company announced Thursday.
In his new role, Hoogstra will be responsible for development, packaging, sales and shepherding new and current projects in the rapidly growing premium content space. Hoogstra will also be active in securing international financing and co-productions for U.S. broadcast partners.
“I’ve spent the last few months looking for the right person to take advantage of all the opportunities SDE now has with Banijay, and Dirk definitely is that person,” said Stephen David in a statement. “Because of Banijay SDE’s ability to finance, distribute and produce premium shows at any price point, Dirk will be able to work with partners throughout the world packaging great content.”
Most recently, Hoogstra served as executive vice president and general manager of History and H2, a role he held since 2013.
SDE produces non-scripted content and scripted series, including History’s “The World Wars” and “Sons of Liberty” and AMC’s “Making the Mob: New York.”
