Steve Harvey Asian Jokes Spawn Mr. Potato Head Meme on Twitter

Talk-show host skewered on social media for his racially charged comments

Steve Harvey

Steve Harvey became the butt — or rather, the spud — of the Twitterati’s jokes this week, after comments he made about Asian men led the social media hordes to liken him to popular children’s toy Mr. Potato Head.

Harvey invoked the internet’s ire during an episode of his talk show, when he poked fun at dating guides via the example, “How to Date a White Woman: A Practical Guide for Asian Men.”

Harvey then cracked himself — but clearly not everyone — up with a string of one-liners.

“Do you like Asian men?” Harvey asked, before answering his own question with, “No.”

Harvey continued, “I don’t even like Chinese food.”

And, “I don’t eat what I can’t pronounce.”

Harvey’s comments were too hard to swallow for many Twitter critics, who rushed to deride the host.

“Steve Harvey out here calling asian men ugly when he actin as if he don’t look like a human mr potato head,” went one response.

“So steve harvey thinks asian men aren’t attractive when he be lookin like mr potato head??” another critic asked.

“Why is Steve Harvey discriminating against Asian men when his ugly ass bald head looks EXACTLY like Mr Potato Head…,” yet another wondered.

A particularly blunt response offered, “man FU– U. Mr. Potato Head looking ass mofo.”

And so on. Though, one Harvey detractor offered, “steve harvey also looks like a football with a mustache so there’s also that.”

Looks like Steve Harvey might have lost face with that gaffe. On the plus side, he can apparently just plug it back in, or create a whole new one.

Read on for more responses.
