History’s “Roots” remake has another critic: “Straight Outta Compton” star O’Shea Jackson Jr., who played Ice Cube in the hit biopic about rap group N.W.A.

“All respect to all filmmakers, but we do have stories of triumph, and we don’t necessarily have to keep getting beat up,” the actor, who is Ice Cube‘s son in real life, told TMZ during an airport ambush interview.

“There was a black man who helped pioneer open-heart surgery,” Jackson Jr. added. “Where’s that story at?”

Snoop Dogg offered similar criticism last week, and urged viewers to skip the “Roots” revival because he’s tired of movies and TV shows that depict African-Americans in slavery.

“I don’t understand America,” Snoop said in an Instagram video. “They just keep wanting to show us the abuse we took hundreds and hundreds of years ago. But guess what? We’re taking the same abuse.”

“I ain’t watching that s–, and I advise you motherf—- as real n— like myself; f– them television shows,” the rapper continued. “Let’s create our own s– based on today, how we live and how we inspire people today. Black is what’s real. F- that old s–.”
