‘Straight Outta Compton’ Stars, Ice Cube to Open Teen Choice Awards

O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell will appear with producer at the top of Sunday’s show

The stars of “Straight Outta Compton” are heading straight into the Teen Choice Awards.

Fox announced Friday that O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell will make an appearance at the top of Sunday’s awards show. They will be joined by Ice Cube, a producer of the film and one of its subjects.

Opening Friday, “Straight Outta Compton” tells the story of N.W.A., the late-’80s gangsta rap group. In the film, Jackson stars as his real-life father Ice Cube, Hawkins as Dr. Dre and Mitchell as Eazy-E.

“Straight Outta Compton” opened Thursday night to close to $5 million. It is expected to earn $40-$50 million over the weekend.

The Teen Choice Awards air Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox. The show will be hosted by Ludacris, Gina Rodriguez and Josh Peck.
